"Kashmir Schools to Shut for Three-Month Winter Break Amid Cold Wave"

Amidst a prevailing cold wave in the Kashmir Valley, educational authorities have declared an extended winter hiatus for schools in the region. The Directorate of School Education, Kashmir, confirmed that all government and recognized private schools in the valley will observe a three-month winter vacation, with varying commencement dates for different class levels.

According to the directive issued, students up to class 8 will commence their winter break from November 28, lasting until February 29, 2024. This announcement designates Saturday as the final working day for these classes, followed by a national holiday on Monday in observance of Guru Nanak Jayanti.

For students enrolled in classes 9 to 12, the winter recess will begin from December 11 and extend until February 29, 2024, as per the official order. However, teachers are expected to resume duty on February 21 to organize forthcoming examinations.

The directive also mandates teachers to remain available for potential online guidance and assistance to students during the vacation period, highlighting a commitment to continued educational support.

This extensive winter break, necessitated by the prevailing cold weather conditions, aims to ensure the well-being and safety of students amidst the harsh winter in the Kashmir Valley.
