Severe weather conditions continue to disrupt life in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir as heavy snowfall and intense cold waves have led to significant challenges, including road closures and power disruptions. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for severe cold in multiple regions, particularly in Himachal Pradesh, while Jammu and Kashmir braces for the ongoing 'Chillai-Kalan' winter period.

Delhi’s Pusa Sees 3.2°C; IMD Issues Extended Cold Wave Alerts for Northern India

Delhi’s winter chill intensified on Thursday, with temperatures plunging to the city’s coldest December day in the past three years. The minimum temperature dropped to 4.5°C, with Pusa and Ayangar areas recording 3.2°C and 3.8°C, respectively, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The city also witnessed cold wave conditions, with the IMD extending its cold wave warnings for parts of North India until the weekend.

Punjab and Haryana are in the icy embrace of an unrelenting cold wave, with temperatures plummeting to under 5 degrees Celsius at multiple locations, accompanied by a shroud of morning fog. Narnaul in Haryana claimed the title of the coldest place, recording a bone-chilling minimum temperature of 3 degrees Celsius on Saturday, as reported by the meteorological department in Chandigarh.

Several parts of northern India are grappling with an intense cold wave, impacting daily life and transportation. On Thursday, the minimum temperature in Delhi plummeted to 7.1 degrees Celsius, with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a "yellow" alert for "dense fog" in isolated sections of the city. Lodhi Road in Delhi recorded the lowest temperature at 5.6 degrees Celsius, while the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) reached 337 at 9 am, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
