Two Low-Intensity Explosions Rock Chandigarh’s Sector 26, One Near Rapper Badshah’s Club

Two low-intensity explosions rocked Sector 26 of Chandigarh in the early hours of Tuesday morning, one of which occurred outside Seville, a popular club owned by rapper Badshah. The blasts, which occurred within minutes of each other, have left authorities investigating the possibility of extortion and intimidation as the motive behind the attacks.

The first explosion took place around 3:15 am outside Seville when two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle reportedly detonated an explosive device near the club’s entrance. The blast shattered glass and caused significant damage to the surrounding area. Moments later, a second explosion was reported outside the De’Orra club, located nearby, also causing damage to the building’s glass windows.

Police officials were quickly alerted and responded to the incidents. A forensic team was dispatched to both locations to collect evidence and assess the damage. Initial investigations suggest that the explosions may have been part of a targeted act of intimidation, possibly linked to extortion, although this has not been confirmed.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dilbagh Singh Dhaliwal, spoke to reporters, revealing that the police received the complaint about the explosions at 3:25 am. He confirmed that an investigating officer had found broken glass at the Seville site. However, he denied any direct information regarding the ownership of the club, clarifying that investigations were still in the preliminary stages.

“We received information that the incident might be linked to a personal issue. We are currently examining the CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspects,” said Singh.

This explosion follows a similar incident in September in Sector 10 of Chandigarh, when an explosive device, believed to be a hand grenade, was thrown onto the verandah of a house, narrowly missing 100-year-old retired principal KK Malhotra and his wife. The blast caused damage to glass windows and flower pots but fortunately, no one was injured.

The explosions in Sector 26 have raised concerns about the safety of the city’s upscale areas, with authorities increasing their vigilance in response to these incidents. Investigations are ongoing, and police are hopeful that forensic evidence will soon lead to further breakthroughs in solving the case.
