Sonu Nigam, the acclaimed Bollywood playback singer, delivered a soul-stirring performance at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya as part of a special musical show during the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Ram Lalla. The singer’s emotional rendition of the Ram Siya Ram bhajan left him at a loss for words as he expressed his sentiments to the media.
After the musical show, Sonu Nigam, with teary eyes, conveyed to news agency ANI, “Abhi kuch bolne ko hai nahi, bas yahi bolne ko hai (I don’t have anything left to say, but only my tears will speak).” He gestured towards his tears, encapsulating the profound emotions stirred by the momentous occasion.
Dressed in a beige-colored kurta paired with matching pants and a shawl, Sonu Nigam performed the heartfelt bhajan ahead of the main Pran Pratishtha ceremony. The musical event also featured performances by other renowned artists, including Shankar Mahadevan and Anuradha Paudwal with her daughter Kavita Paudwal.
The ceremony at the Ram Mandir saw the presence of over 8,000 guests, including Bollywood celebrities, politicians, and iconic personalities. Notable attendees included Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Vicky Kaushal, Katrina Kaif, and many more.
Expressing his sentiments about the significant day, Sonu Nigam had earlier told ANI, “This is a very emotional moment. I am happy that there is joy and enthusiasm in the world wherever there is Sanatana Dharma. It feels great that we can see this, that God chose us to be born in an era when such an event is taking place. I am one of the fortunate people who have received an invitation.”
The Pran-Pratishtha ceremony, marking the consecration of the idol of Ram Lalla, commenced on January 16, with the idol placed in the Garbha Griha of the Ram Temple before the main event. The idol portrays Lord Ram as a five-year-old child standing on a lotus, symbolizing a sacred moment in the cultural and religious history of Ayodhya.
