Dia Mirza Calls for Media Apology to Rhea Chakraborty After CBI Clears Her in Sushant Singh Rajput Case

Actor Dia Mirza has demanded an apology from the media following the CBI’s closure report in the Sushant Singh Rajput case, which cleared Rhea Chakraborty of abetment to suicide allegations. In an Instagram post, Dia criticized the media for what she called a “witch hunt” against Rhea and her family.

Dia Mirza Questions Media Over Rhea’s Harassment

Dia Mirza, expressing her frustration, wrote, “Who in the media will have the grace to put out a written apology to Rhea Chakraborty and her family? You went on a witch hunt. You caused deep anguish and harassment just for TRPs. Apologise. That’s the very least you can do.”

Her statement comes after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed two separate reports—one in response to the case filed by Sushant’s father, KK Singh, accusing Rhea of abetment to suicide and financial fraud, and another filed by Rhea against Sushant’s sisters.

CBI Closure Report Brings Five Years of Speculation to an End

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Bandra apartment on June 14, 2020, at the age of 34. His post-mortem at Cooper Hospital ruled asphyxia as the cause of death. However, the case triggered widespread speculation, allegations, and media trials.

The CBI’s findings, based on forensic reports, witness statements, and expert opinions, concluded that there was no evidence to support the allegations that anyone had driven the actor to suicide.

What Were the Allegations?

  • KK Singh’s case accused Rhea Chakraborty of abetting Sushant’s suicide and siphoning ₹15 crore from his bank accounts.
  • Rhea’s counter-case alleged that Sushant’s sisters provided him with medications based on a bogus prescription, which could have worsened his mental health.

The CBI dismissed claims of poisoning and strangulation, as per forensic reports from AIIMS experts. After nearly five years of investigation, the agency decided to file its final report, putting an end to various conspiracy theories surrounding Sushant’s death.

Impact of the Media Trial

Rhea Chakraborty was subjected to intense media scrutiny following Sushant’s death. She was arrested in 2020 in a drug-related case linked to the actor’s passing and later released on bail. Several Bollywood personalities had earlier criticized the media for its relentless coverage and allegations against her.

With the CBI report now closing the case, Dia Mirza’s demand for a public apology reflects growing criticism of the role the media played in amplifying accusations without legal backing.
