Punjab Police Busts Narco-Terror Module, Arrests Four With 4 kg Heroin

In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Punjab Police on Sunday busted a narco-terror module, arresting four individuals, including a father-son duo, and seizing 4 kg of heroin. The accused were reportedly in direct contact with drug smugglers based in Pakistan.

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav confirmed the arrests and the seizure, stating that an FIR has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the State Special Operations Cell, Amritsar.

“In an intelligence-led operation, Counter Intelligence, Amritsar, busts a narco-terror module and apprehends four persons and recovers 4 kg of heroin from their possession,” DGP Yadav posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Accused Identified

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

  • Sukhwinder Singh and his son Navjot Singh, residents of Tarn Taran road, Amritsar
  • Aniket, a resident of Chheharta, Amritsar
  • Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, a resident of Sheron village, Tarn Taran

Along with the arrests, police have also impounded a black-colored auto-rickshaw and a motorcycle, which were allegedly being used to transport drug consignments.

Modus Operandi and Investigation Details

According to a Punjab Police statement, the Counter Intelligence unit in Amritsar received intelligence that the suspects had received a drug consignment from the Attari area to distribute to local peddlers. Acting on this input, the police raided a location near the Government Hospital in Naraingarh, Amritsar, leading to the arrests and the heroin recovery.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the drug network was being operated by a foreign-based individual identified as Bhullar. The accused Sukhwinder Singh and his son Navjot had allegedly procured 4 kg of heroin from an unidentified individual in Rajatal village, Amritsar. Out of this, 2 kg was handed over to Aniket and Gurpreet Singh for further distribution.

Links to Previous Drug Cases

The investigation has also unearthed connections to past drug-related offenses. Sukhwinder’s other son, Harmanjit Singh alias Harry, and Aniket’s brother, Sagar, were arrested in a drug-related case by the Anti-Narcotic Task Force in SAS Nagar in January 2025. Both are currently lodged in Amritsar jail, and their potential involvement in this network is being probed.

Police’s Commitment to Crack Down on Organized Crime

DGP Yadav reiterated that the Punjab Police remains steadfast in its efforts to dismantle organized crime and maintain law and order in the state. “Further investigations are underway to uncover deeper connections within this network by establishing backward and forward linkages. More recoveries and arrests are expected in the coming days,” he stated.

This latest operation highlights Punjab Police’s ongoing efforts to curb drug smuggling, particularly in light of the increasing influence of foreign-based drug syndicates.
