India celebrated its 76th Republic Day with grandeur, showcasing the country’s cultural diversity, unity, military strength, and 75 years of the enactment of the Constitution. This year’s celebrations focused on the theme of Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas (Golden India: Heritage and Development), emphasizing the nation’s progress and achievements.
The festivities at Kartavya Path began with Prime Minister Narendra Modi paying homage to the country’s fallen heroes at the National War Memorial. President Droupadi Murmu, accompanied by the chief guest, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, arrived in a traditional buggy and unfurled the national flag to officially commence the celebrations.
31 Tableaux Highlight Cultural Heritage and Progress
The centerpiece of the Republic Day parade was the display of 31 tableaux from 16 states and union territories, central ministries, tri-services, and veterans. These vibrant and creative exhibits encapsulated India’s rich heritage, developmental milestones, and the contributions of women in various fields.
- Uttar Pradesh’s Tableau: Highlighting the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, the tableau depicted scenes of ‘Samudra Manthan,’ ‘Amrit Kalash,’ and holy men bathing on the banks of Sangam.
- Andhra Pradesh’s Tableau: Focused on the traditional craft of “Etikoppaka wooden toys,” showcasing the eco-friendly and toxin-free 400-year-old art form.
- Veterans’ Tableau: With the theme Viksit Bharat ki Ore Sadaiv Agrasar (Always Advancing Towards a Developed India), it paid tribute to the resilience and discipline of India’s veterans.
A special highlight was the participation of veteran women officers—Lieutenant Colonel Ravinderjeet Randhawa, Lieutenant Commander Mani Agarwal, and Flight Lieutenant Ruchi Saha—who showcased the theme of Nari Shakti and the evolving role of women in the armed forces.
10,000 Special Guests Attend as ‘Architects of Swarnim Bharat’
The Republic Day celebrations were graced by the presence of 10,000 special guests, referred to as the “architects of Swarnim Bharat.” These guests included the best performers across various fields and beneficiaries of government schemes, symbolizing the spirit of Jan Bhagidari (public participation) in building a progressive India.
Military Strength and Cultural Pride on Display
The parade also featured India’s military might, including a display of advanced weaponry and aerial acrobatics by the Indian Air Force. Traditional performances and cultural presentations by artists from across the country added vibrancy to the celebrations, reflecting the unity and diversity of India.
As the celebrations concluded, the event reaffirmed India’s commitment to progress, equality, and national pride, leaving the audience inspired by the nation’s journey and achievements over the past 75 years.
