Indian Student from Hyderabad Reported Missing in Chicago for a Week

An Indian student named Rupesh Chandra Chintakindi has been missing in Chicago since May 2, sparking concerns among the Indian diaspora and authorities. The Consulate General of India in Chicago has been actively involved in efforts to locate and establish contact with Rupesh.

The Consulate General of India in Chicago expressed deep concern in a statement posted on X, stating, “The Consulate is deeply concerned learning that Indian student Rupesh Chandra Chintakindi is incommunicado since 2nd May. Consulate is in touch with the police and the Indian diaspora hoping to locate/reestablish contact with Rupesh.”

The Chicago police have also joined the search, urging anyone with information about Rupesh Chintakindi’s whereabouts to come forward. According to reports, Rupesh was last seen in the 4300 block of N Sheridan Road.

This incident follows another tragic case involving an Indian student named Mohammed Abdul Arfath, who was reported missing in March and later found dead in Ohio. The Consulate General of India in New York expressed condolences and is collaborating with local authorities to investigate Arfath’s death.

These recent incidents have highlighted safety concerns within the Indian student community abroad, with previous cases of attacks and tragedies raising alarm among Indian authorities and communities.

The Consulate General of India in Chicago has been actively involved in providing support and assistance to Indian students facing challenges or emergencies in the United States, including recent cases of violence and missing persons.
