Jaguar Fighter Jet Crashes in Gujarat's Jamnagar, One Pilot Ejects Safely, Search On for Another

A twin-seater Jaguar fighter jet of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed in Gujarat’s Jamnagar during a routine training sortie. One pilot managed to eject safely, while a search operation is underway for the second pilot.

Jamnagar Superintendent of Police (SP) Premsukh Delu confirmed the incident, stating, “While one pilot safely ejected before the crash, another one is still missing. The aircraft caught fire after the crash. Police and firefighters have rushed to the spot and started searching for the missing pilot.”

Eyewitness Accounts and Rescue Efforts

The crash took place near Suvarda village, around 12 km from Jamnagar city. Videos from the scene showed large flames consuming the wreckage, with different parts of the aircraft, including the cockpit and tail section, scattered and burning. Emergency responders, including police and firefighters, are actively involved in the search operation for the missing pilot.

About the Jaguar Fighter Jet

The Jaguar is a twin-engine fighter bomber extensively used by the IAF. First inducted into service in the late 1970s, it has undergone multiple upgrades over the years. The aircraft is known for its strike capabilities and has both single-seat and twin-seat variants.

Previous Jaguar Crash in March

This is the second Jaguar crash in recent months. On March 7, another Jaguar fighter jet crashed in Ambala following a system malfunction. The pilot, in that case, managed to steer the aircraft away from populated areas before ejecting safely.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the latest crash while the search continues for the missing pilot.
