District Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Officer of Wanaparthy, K Venkateshwar, stated that the cause of the disease is under investigation. “A mysterious disease has hit poultry farms in Konnur, resulting in the deaths of approximately 2,500 chickens within just three days,” he said.
Officials inspected the affected farm, Premium Form, which has a capacity of 5,500 chickens and is owned by Shivakehavulu. Bird Flu Concerns in Andhra Pradesh
The incident in Telangana comes as neighboring Andhra Pradesh is battling a bird flu outbreak. The Andhra Pradesh government has intensified containment measures across three affected districts.
Dr. Satya Kumari, Additional Director of Animal Husbandry, confirmed that bird flu was detected in five poultry farms, leading to the culling of nearly one lakh hens. Andhra Agriculture, Cooperation, Marketing, and Animal Husbandry Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu reassured the public that the situation was under control.
Authorities in Telangana are closely monitoring the poultry sector to determine whether the mysterious disease in Wanaparthy is linked to the bird flu outbreak in Andhra Pradesh. The results of the lab tests are awaited.
