Delhi Faces Severe Waterlogging After Heavy Rains, Traffic Disruptions Reported

Delhi has been battered by heavy rains early today, resulting in widespread waterlogging and significant disruptions to daily life and commute. The intense downpour led to flooding across several major locations, including Patel Chowk, Chatta Rail Chowk, Nigam Bodh Ghat, Minto Bridge, IP Marg, Mundka, Mangi Bridge, Ch. Fateh Singh Marg, Railway Under Bridge, Ram Bagh Road, and Azad Market.

The Delhi Traffic Police have issued an advisory urging commuters to avoid these waterlogged areas and adjust their travel plans accordingly. Traffic is particularly affected on New Rohtak Road, where both carriageways are blocked due to flooding at Anand Parvat.

Authorities have shared visuals of the severe waterlogging and disruptions, highlighting the challenging conditions faced by residents and commuters. A rickshaw driver, Munil Mehto, described the crisis, saying, “My vehicle suddenly stopped. I asked a few drivers to help me. I came out of the auto to save my life. The vehicle’s papers are still in it.”

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for continued heavy rain across various states. Isolated areas in Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.
