Sonia Gandhi Unveils Six Guarantees for Telangana Ahead of Elections

In a bid to woo voters ahead of the upcoming polls in Telangana, Congress veteran Sonia Gandhi announced six key guarantees for the state during a rally in Tukkuguda near Hyderabad. She expressed the Congress party’s commitment to fulfilling each of these promises, aiming to gain the trust and support of the electorate.

The six guarantees outlined by Sonia Gandhi are as follows:

  1. Mahalakshmi Guarantee: Under this scheme, women in Telangana will receive financial assistance of ₹2,500 per month. Additionally, gas cylinders will be made available at the affordable price of ₹500, and women will enjoy free travel in TSRC (Telangana State Road Transport Corporation) buses across the state. This initiative aims to address the economic concerns and aspirations of women in Telangana.
  2. Rhythu Bharosa Guarantee: Farmers and tenant farmers will receive ₹15,000 annually, while agricultural laborers will be entitled to ₹12,000 per year. Furthermore, a ₹500 bonus will be granted for paddy crop cultivation. This guarantee aims to support the agricultural community and enhance their livelihoods.
  3. Gruha Jyothi Guarantee: To provide relief to deserving households, this guarantee promises 200 units of free electricity. Access to free electricity is expected to improve the living conditions of households in need.
  4. Indiramma Indlu Guarantee: This guarantee seeks to address housing needs. People without their own homes will receive house sites and ₹5 lakh for housing. Telangana movement fighters will also be provided with 250 sq yards of land. This initiative aims to improve housing conditions and recognize the contributions of those who fought for the state.
  5. Yuva Vikasam Guarantee: Students will receive Vidya Bharosa Cards worth ₹5 lakh, and Telangana International Schools will be established in every mandal. This guarantee is designed to enhance educational opportunities for young people in Telangana.
  6. Cheyutha Guarantee: The elderly will benefit from a monthly pension of ₹4,000 and a ₹10 lakh Rajiv Arogyasri insurance cover. This guarantee aims to provide financial security and healthcare support to senior citizens.

Sonia Gandhi emphasized that her dream is to see a Congress government in Telangana dedicated to working for the welfare of all sections of society. She called on Congress supporters to rally behind the party and support their mission for the upcoming elections in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan, and Telangana.

The announcement of these guarantees comes after a two-day Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Hyderabad, where party leaders discussed their strategies and preparations for the upcoming assembly elections. Congress leaders expressed optimism about receiving a “clear mandate” in the polls, while also addressing concerns about potential alliances with other parties.

As the election season approaches, parties are intensifying their efforts to secure the confidence and votes of the electorate, making significant promises and outlining their visions for the states they aim to govern. The fulfillment of these guarantees will be closely monitored by voters as they make their choices in the upcoming polls.
