7 Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrants Caught in Delhi, Deportation Process Initiated

In a major crackdown on illegal immigration, the Delhi Police has detained seven Bangladeshi nationals, including a minor, from different locations across Delhi-NCR. The authorities have initiated the deportation process with the assistance of the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), officials confirmed on Monday.

Details of the Arrest

The detained individuals have been identified as Dilawar Khan (48), Beauty Begum (39), Rafikul (43), Tauhid (20), Md Azhar (28), Zakir Malik (40), and a 15-year-old minor girl. According to police reports, they allegedly entered India illegally through river routes and had been residing in different parts of Delhi and Ghaziabad.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Abhishek Dhania stated, “They were residing at various locations in Delhi and Ghaziabad. Deportation proceedings have been initiated with the assistance of the FRRO.”

Police Action and Investigation

The operation began on March 16 when the police, acting on a tip-off, detained Dilawar Khan from the Krishna Nagar area. Initially, he claimed to be a resident of West Bengal, but after extensive interrogation and verification, authorities confirmed that he was a Bangladeshi national from Khulna district.

Following this revelation, police identified six more Bangladeshi nationals illegally residing in various parts of Delhi-NCR. Raids were conducted in multiple areas, including Laxmi Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Seemapuri, and Shalimar Garden in Ghaziabad, leading to their detention.

Government Crackdown on Illegal Immigration

The drive against illegal immigrants has been ongoing since December 2023. However, authorities intensified their efforts after a high-level meeting in February, attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Chief Minister, and other senior leaders.

Officials stated that further investigations are underway to track down any additional individuals linked to this illegal entry network. Law enforcement agencies remain on high alert to curb illegal immigration and ensure the deportation of foreign nationals residing unlawfully in the country.

This latest crackdown highlights the government’s commitment to strengthening border security and maintaining law and order within the nation. Authorities continue to urge the public to report suspicious activities related to illegal immigration to help in their efforts.
