The Kannada film industry has been rocked by a shocking development as actor Darshan Thoogudeepa finds himself embroiled in a murder case. Following his arrest, reports have emerged that his long-time partner, actress Pavithra Gowda, has also been detained by Bengaluru police in connection with the same case.
According to India Today, Darshan Thoogudeepa, along with Pavithra Gowda and 10 others, has been taken into custody over murder charges. While some sources refer to Pavithra as Darshan’s wife, others describe her as his longtime partner. The specifics of her relationship with Darshan are under scrutiny as the investigation unfolds.
The arrest of Darshan and Pavithra comes in the wake of suspicion that they orchestrated the murder of a man named Renuka Swamy. The actor, aged 47, was apprehended in Mysuru and brought to Bengaluru for questioning. This development follows statements from three individuals who confessed to carrying out the crime on the instructions of Darshan.
Pavithra Gowda is currently being questioned by the police at the Annapoorneshwari Nagar police station, as per reports from Oneindia. While some media outlets claim that she has been formally arrested, this has yet to be confirmed by official sources.
The victim, Renuka Swamy, was allegedly found dead at Sumanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru. He was employed at an Apollo Pharmacy branch in Chitradurga and had reportedly sent derogatory messages to Pavithra Gowda, leading to a possible motive for the crime.
Details emerging from The Hindu suggest that the victim was lured to Darshan’s farmhouse in Mysuru, where he was subjected to torture and subsequently killed. The body was then disposed of in a drain in Kamakshipalya. The incident came to light after local residents alerted the police, prompting an autopsy that confirmed the murder.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda confirmed the ongoing investigation, stating that multiple individuals, including actors from the Kannada film industry, are being questioned in connection with the murder case. The specifics of the case and the roles of those detained are still being ascertained as the investigation progresses.
