
Gaurav Ahuja, the man seen urinating in public at a busy traffic junction in Pune while allegedly under the influence of alcohol, has been arrested along with his associate Bhagyesh Oswal. The duo was taken into custody by Mumbai police in the Karad area of Satara district on Sunday. A local court has sent both accused to police custody until March 10.
Incident Caught on Camera
The shocking incident, which took place in Pune, was caught on camera by an eyewitness and quickly went viral on social media. In the video, Ahuja is seen stepping out of his luxury BMW and urinating on the road while his associate, Oswal, remains in the front passenger seat. After completing the act, Ahuja gets back into his car, flashes a hand gesture at the person recording the incident, and speeds away with a smirk.
Following the video’s circulation on X (formerly Twitter), public outrage grew, prompting authorities to take swift action against Ahuja and his companion.
Gaurav Ahuja’s Apology Video
After facing backlash, Ahuja released a video apologizing for his actions and pleaded with people not to harass his family. He also stated that he would surrender to the police.
“I am Gaurav Ahuja, and what I did in public was very wrong. I apologize to the public, the police department, and Shinde Saheb. Give me a chance, I’m sorry. Please don’t bother any of my family members. I will surrender at the Yerwada police station in the next eight hours,” Ahuja said in the video, folding his hands in a plea for forgiveness.
Legal Action Taken
The Maharashtra police have registered a case at Yerwada Police Station under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the Maharashtra Police Act and the Motor Vehicles Act.
A police statement confirmed, “Taking cognizance of the video, we have registered a case under BNS Sections 270, 281, and 285, along with other relevant sections.” Medical tests were conducted on both accused before they were produced in court.
Who Is Gaurav Ahuja?
According to media reports, Gaurav Ahuja is the son of Pune-based restaurant owner Manoj Ahuja. At the time of the incident, he was allegedly intoxicated. Activist Vijay Kumbhar has claimed that Ahuja is not a first-time offender and has been involved in similar acts before.
