Private Hospital Director in Patna Fatally Shot Inside Office Cabin

The director of a private hospital in Bihar’s Patna was shot dead inside her office cabin, police said on Saturday. The victim, identified as Surabhi Raj, was found unconscious and covered in blood by her staff at Asia Hospital. She was diagnosed with multiple gunshot injuries and was referred to AIIMS, but later succumbed to her injuries, according to news agency ANI.

Investigation Underway

A case has been registered, and police are investigating the motive behind the attack. Patna City SDPO Atulesh Jha stated that officers are collecting evidence from all angles.

“At around 3:30 PM, we received information that Surabhi Raj, the director of Asia Hospital, had been shot. When the police team arrived, the staff informed us that they had found her unconscious and bleeding in her cabin. She was immediately shifted to the ICU, diagnosed with multiple gunshot wounds, and referred to AIIMS. Unfortunately, she did not survive. The investigation is ongoing, and we are collecting evidence from all possible angles,” Jha told ANI.

Attack Went Unnoticed

Some hospital trainees, who were nearby, said they were unaware of the attack until they noticed the victim lying in a pool of blood.

“We were giggling and having fun when we suddenly became conscious of a noise and checked the next room. That’s when we saw ma’am (Surabhi) covered in blood,” one trainee said. Another trainee mentioned that the attack went unnoticed as no gunshot sounds were heard.

Forensic Team Examining CCTV Footage

A police team, led by the Superintendent of Police (City), along with a forensic team and a dog squad, was deployed to the scene for investigation. Police are scanning CCTV footage for clues about the unidentified attacker.
