Prime Minister Narendra Modi made headlines today as he delved into the Arabian Sea off the coast of Gujarat to conduct an underwater puja at the historic site of Dwarka. Dwarka, renowned for its association with Lord Krishna, is believed to have been a thriving city submerged beneath the sea centuries ago.
The Prime Minister’s immersion into the azure waters near Beyt Dwarka island, where scuba diving reveals the underwater remnants of ancient Dwarka unearthed by archaeologists, captivated social media with visuals of him adorned in scuba gear offering prayers at the site steeped in historical and spiritual significance.
PM Modi paid homage to the ancient city by presenting peacock feathers—a symbolic gesture honoring Lord Krishna. Reflecting on the experience, he shared on social media, “To pray in the city of Dwarka, which is immersed in the waters, was a very divine experience. I felt connected to an ancient era of spiritual grandeur and timeless devotion. May Bhagwan Shri Krishna bless us all.”
In a video shared later, PM Modi provided insights into his diving encounter, describing it as a “Dwarka Darshan under the waters,” where the spiritual and historical converge, echoing the eternal presence of Lord Krishna.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi inaugurated ‘Sudarshan Setu,’ the country’s longest cable-stayed bridge spanning 2.32 km over the Arabian Sea, connecting Beyt Dwarka island to mainland Okha in Gujarat’s Devbhumi Dwarka district. The bridge, adorned with verses from the Srimad Bhagavad Gita and images of Lord Krishna, boasts a unique design symbolic of the region’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
Constructed at a cost of ₹979 crore, the bridge comprises a central double span cable-stayed portion and an approach road, serving as a vital link enhancing connectivity and accessibility in the region.
PM Modi’s visit to Dwarka and the inauguration of Sudarshan Setu underline the government’s commitment to infrastructure development while celebrating the rich historical and cultural legacy of India.
