
A 22-year-old student was stabbed to death while three others sustained injuries during a violent clash at a music concert at Panjab University’s South Campus on Friday night. The deceased, identified as Aditya Thakur, was a second-year computer science engineering student at the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET).
The incident took place during a performance by Haryanvi singer Masoom Sharma. According to police sources, unidentified assailants attacked Thakur and three other students with knives. A disturbing video circulating on social media shows Thakur lying on the ground, bleeding profusely after being stabbed in the thigh.
Following the attack, Thakur was rushed to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday. The other three injured students are receiving treatment at Government Multi-Specialty Hospital in Sector 16, Chandigarh.
Students Protest, Demand Justice
Outraged by the attack, Panjab University students staged a protest, criticizing university authorities and the police for failing to ensure safety on campus. They alleged that outsiders were responsible for the violence and demanded stricter security measures.
Meanwhile, police have lodged an FIR and are working to identify and apprehend the attackers. The motive behind the attack remains unclear.
