Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district are engaged in a rigorous encounter with terrorists who infiltrated across the border, taking refuge in the challenging terrain of the Desa forest area. This operation comes in the aftermath of a deadly attack that claimed the lives of four Army personnel, prompting a swift and determined response from Indian forces.
According to officials, the encounter has seen intermittent exchanges of fire, most recently reported near Panchan Bhata after initial firing at Kalaan Bhata. Despite efforts by the Army, Rashtriya Rifles, and Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group, the terrorists managed to evade capture during the night, utilizing the darkness, difficult terrain, and dense foliage to their advantage.
The joint cordon and search operation, launched at Dhari Gote Urarbagi, commenced late Monday evening following credible intelligence on the presence of militants affiliated with the banned Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). The operation is focused on neutralizing these militants who pose a threat to regional security.
Employing para commandos and leveraging aerial support from drones and helicopters, the Indian Army is intensifying its efforts to locate and eliminate the terrorists. The operation spans across the upper reaches of Udhampur, Doda, and Kishtwar districts, extending towards Kashmir, demonstrating a coordinated effort to thwart any further infiltration attempts.
In a statement, the Army reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir, underscoring ongoing operations aimed at ensuring the safety and security of the region. The relentless pursuit of terrorists underscores the resolve of Northern Command forces to maintain peace and stability in the area.
