A four-and-a-half-year-old boy tragically lost his life after getting stuck in a lift door at a residential building in Hyderabad’s Asif Nagar on Wednesday night. This marks the second such incident in the city within a month, raising concerns over lift safety in residential complexes.
According to police officials, the building houses a private men’s PG hostel where the boy’s father, originally from Nepal, worked as a watchman for the past four months. The child’s mother, along with local residents, discovered him trapped in the lift and immediately sought help.
How the Incident Unfolded
During a preliminary investigation, police revealed that the child had been playing near the lift when it was activated. As the lift ascended, the boy got stuck between the first floor and the lift gate, sustaining severe injuries. Local residents managed to pull him out and rushed him to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead.
A case has been registered based on a complaint filed by the boy’s father. Authorities are now investigating whether negligence or a technical fault in the lift caused the accident.
Second Lift Accident in a Month
This incident follows a similar tragedy in February when a six-year-old boy died after getting trapped between an elevator shaft and a wall in an apartment complex in Hyderabad’s Masab Tank area. The child was stuck near the first floor for over two hours before being rescued but succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
