Emergency Box Office Collection Day 10: Kangana Ranaut’s Political Drama Gains Momentum on Republic Day

Kangana Ranaut’s latest directorial venture, Emergency, witnessed growth on its second Sunday, coinciding with Republic Day. The political drama, in which Kangana portrays the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, earned ₹1.15 crore on Day 10 (January 26), according to reports by Sacnilk. With this, the film’s total box office collection now stands at ₹16.70 crore.

The movie achieved a Hindi occupancy rate of 23.08% on Republic Day, showcasing signs of gradual improvement in audience engagement.

A Glimpse into Emergency

Emergency delves into one of India’s most controversial and darkest periods in post-Independence history— the 21-month nationwide Emergency declared between 1975 and 1977 under the leadership of Indira Gandhi. Kangana Ranaut’s portrayal of the iconic political figure has been widely discussed, adding intrigue to the film’s narrative.

The film boasts an ensemble cast including Anupam Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan, Shreyas Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhry, Vishak Nair, Ashok Chhabra, and the late Satish Kaushik.

Shreyas Talpade Praises Kangana Ranaut’s Dual Role

Actor Shreyas Talpade, who plays former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the film, shared his experience of working with Kangana during an interaction with NDTV. “Kangana is a fabulous actor. We’ve seen her deliver performances very few can match. Emergency is no different—she has given her best as Indira Gandhi,” he said.

Talpade also applauded Kangana’s work as the director of Emergency. “As a director, Kangana was exceptional. She was in complete control and her research and dedication to the project were unmatched. Sharing screen space with her was an honor,” he added.
