Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has hailed the victory of Usha Vance, the wife of US Vice President-elect JD Vance, as a historic moment, marking a significant achievement for the Telugu community worldwide. Usha Vance, who is set to become the Second Lady of the United States, will be the first woman of Telugu heritage to assume such a high-profile role.
In a post on social media platform X, Naidu congratulated JD Vance on his victory in the 2024 US Presidential Election, calling it a “historic” event that would bring Usha Vance into the limelight as an influential figure in the US. Usha’s ancestral village, Vadluru, is located in the West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, near the town of Tanuku, around 35 kilometers from Bhimavaram.
Naidu expressed his pride in Usha’s achievement, emphasizing that this moment would resonate with Telugu communities globally. “I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to JD Vance on becoming the US Vice President-elect. His victory marks a historic moment, as Usha Vance, who has roots in Andhra Pradesh, will become the first woman of Telugu heritage to serve as the second lady of the US,” Naidu wrote.
The chief minister also welcomed the strengthened ties between India and the US under the leadership of both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President-elect Donald Trump. He noted that Trump’s first term saw significant progress in the Indo-US partnership, and he expressed confidence that relations between the two countries would continue to flourish.
In addition to praising Usha’s role, Naidu extended his congratulations to Donald Trump for his successful re-election, wishing him success in his second term as president. He expressed hope that Trump’s presidency would further foster bilateral cooperation between India and the United States, contributing to mutual growth and prosperity.
Naidu concluded by mentioning that he looks forward to welcoming JD Vance and Usha to Andhra Pradesh, a state that takes immense pride in their achievements.
