The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast predicting rain showers in Delhi and intense snowfall in parts of Himachal Pradesh next week. According to the forecast, the national capital along with adjoining areas of Punjab, Haryana, and parts of Uttar Pradesh will experience light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has pledged a compensation of ₹10 lakh each to the families of the victims who lost their lives in a tragic fire at a paint factory in Alipur. The notice, dispatched on February 3, demands a "token amount" of ₹500 crore from the firm and directs immediate repair work initiation.

Several parts of northern India are grappling with an intense cold wave, impacting daily life and transportation. On Thursday, the minimum temperature in Delhi plummeted to 7.1 degrees Celsius, with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a "yellow" alert for "dense fog" in isolated sections of the city. Lodhi Road in Delhi recorded the lowest temperature at 5.6 degrees Celsius, while the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) reached 337 at 9 am, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
