Delhi-NCR Air Quality Approaches ‘Severe’ Category in Multiple Areas; Citywide AQI Averages at 362

The air quality in Delhi-NCR remained critically poor on Thursday, with several areas approaching 'severe' levels as the average Air Quality Index (AQI) in the region hit a concerning 362, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

Data from 31 surveyed locations revealed that Mumbai, often criticized for its air quality, ranked 20th, with the Worli area experiencing a staggering 216.5% increase in "very unhealthy" air quality levels compared to last year.

Pune’s Air Quality, Currently at ‘Moderate’ Level, Anticipated to Worsen in the Next 24 Hours

Pune’s air quality, which has been classified as ‘moderate’ with an air quality index (AQI) of 122 as of October 31, is anticipated to decline in the next 24 hours, coinciding with the remaining days of the ongoing Diwali festival. The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology's (IITM) SAFAR model indicates that pollution levels are set to rise in several localities, including Katraj, Shivajinagar, Hadapsar, and Bhosari, where there has been a gradual increase in air pollution recently.

Delhi Sees Light Rain and Temperature Rise, AQI Remains Satisfactory

Delhi experienced a slight increase in temperature on Saturday while continuing to receive light rain in various parts of the city. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature for the day was recorded at 35.5°C, marginally higher than the previous day's 35.2°C. The minimum temperature was logged at 27.2°C, up from Friday's 25.3°C.

Rain Showers Provide Relief from Intense Heatwave in Delhi-NCR

On Friday, parts of the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) experienced much-needed rainfall, providing significant relief from the intense heatwave that had gripped the area. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature in Delhi settled at 28.4 degrees Celsius, which is normal for this time of year.
