BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath Passes Away at 63 Due to Heart Attack

Maganti Gopinath, a prominent BRS MLA from Jubilee Hills, Telangana, passed away early Sunday morning at the age of 63 after suffering a massive heart attack. He was admitted to AIG Hospitals on June 5, where he later succumbed to the cardiac arrest and was declared dead at 5:45 AM on Sunday.

Gopinath was a well-known political figure who gained significant attention when he defeated Congress leader and former cricketer Mohd Azharuddin in the 2023 Telangana Assembly elections. His political journey included being a former TDP leader and Hyderabad unit president of the party. He was first elected to the Telangana Assembly in 2014 from Jubilee Hills on a TDP ticket.

In 2016, Gopinath, along with several other TDP legislators, joined the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (now Bharat Rashtra Samithi – BRS) led by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. He was re-elected as an MLA on the BRS ticket in 2018 and again in 2023.

Leaders across political parties paid their respects to the late MLA. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Union Minister and BJP state president G Kishan Reddy, BRS chief KCR, Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh, and several others visited his residence to offer floral tributes. The funeral, held at the ‘Maha Prasthanam’ crematorium in Hyderabad on Sunday evening, was conducted with full state honours as per government protocol.

Among those who attended the funeral were BRS Working President K T Rama Rao, BJP MP K Laxman, and numerous political leaders who came together to mourn the loss of the respected legislator. Maganti Gopinath’s death marks a significant moment of loss in Telangana’s political landscape.
