Gurugram police arrested a man accused of threatening to shoot his female colleague and firing multiple rounds into the air in Sector 44 on Wednesday night. The accused, identified as Satyavrat alias Satya Pandit, hails from Gopalganj in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur district.
The incident occurred around 10:15 pm when the victim, Laxmi Verma alias Mehak, a resident of Sector 44, was with her friend Anu Rajput near Kanhai Colony, on their way to HUDA Market in Sector 53. According to Mehak, who has been working with Satyavrat in a private management company for the past month, the accused stopped his motorcycle in front of her, threatened to shoot her, and then fired four to five rounds into the air using a country-made pistol.
She immediately alerted the police, and an emergency response vehicle arrived at the scene. On seeing the police, the accused fled but was later apprehended near a CNG pump in the Sushant Lok area on Thursday. A motorcycle used by the accused and a country-made pistol with two cartridges were recovered by the police.
Following the complaint, an FIR was registered at the Sushant Lok police station. Satyavrat was produced in court and remanded to four days’ police custody for further questioning.
The police have assured strict action and continue to investigate the case.
