Drone Activity Spotted in Barmer; Residents Asked to Stay Indoors Amid Ceasefire Tensions

In a new development along the India-Pakistan border, drone activity has been detected in Rajasthan’s Barmer district, leading to heightened security measures in the area. This follows a ceasefire agreement between the two nations reached over the weekend. The district collector of Barmer issued an advisory on social media platform X, urging residents to stay indoors and observe a blackout. This precautionary measure aims to ensure safety amid growing concerns over border security.

The blackout in Barmer began at 8 pm on Sunday, while similar measures were enforced earlier in Jaisalmer and other border regions in Rajasthan starting at 7:30 pm. The blackout was introduced as a response to the ceasefire violation by Pakistan, which took place the night before. Following the ceasefire agreement, the violation led to temporary security alerts and fears of further escalation.

Residents reported spotting red lights in the sky, suspected to be drones. This triggered panic as the area was already on high alert after the ceasefire violations. Security forces have been stationed along the border areas, maintaining strict vigilance and monitoring the situation closely.

On the previous night, following Pakistan’s breach of the ceasefire terms, the Indian Armed Forces warned Pakistan of severe consequences if such violations were repeated. Lt. General Rajiv Ghai, Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), confirmed that the Chief of Army Staff conducted a security review and granted full authority to army commanders to take appropriate countermeasures if necessary. Vice Admiral AN Pramod, Director General of Naval Operations (DGNO), further emphasized that Pakistan was well aware of India’s response to any future violations.

The ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan was reached after a tense period of military confrontation. While the situation on the border remains delicate, normalcy is gradually returning in the region, with markets reopening and daily activities resuming.

Authorities have called on the people of Barmer and surrounding areas to stay cautious and adhere to security instructions as the situation evolves. As of now, security forces continue to monitor the border with high alertness, ensuring the safety of residents and preventing any potential escalation.

The government remains firm in its commitment to respond strongly to any threats or violations, asserting that India will continue to protect its sovereignty and security at all costs.
