Delhi CM Rekha Gupta to Chair First Cabinet Meeting Today, Hours After Oath

Hours after being sworn in as the Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta announced that her government’s first cabinet meeting will be held this evening at the Civil Secretariat.

Gupta, who took the oath at a grand ceremony at Ramlila Maidan on Thursday afternoon, told reporters, “After today’s swearing-in, I have taken charge at the Chief Minister’s office, and a cabinet meeting has been scheduled for this evening.”

The Shalimar Bagh MLA was administered the oath of office by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. The event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Rajnath Singh, and chief ministers and deputy chief ministers from several NDA-ruled states.

Accompanied by state BJP in-charge Baijayant Panda, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, and other party leaders, Gupta reached the Delhi Secretariat to formally assume her role.

After taking charge, the new chief minister reaffirmed her commitment to building a “Viksit Delhi,” emphasizing that her government would waste no time in fulfilling its promises. “We will fulfil all the commitments made to the people of Delhi,” she asserted.
