AAP Alleges EC Officials Raided Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann’s Delhi Residence; EC Denies Claims

In a recent development, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has claimed that Election Commission (EC) officials arrived at Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s residence at Kapurthala House in Delhi to conduct a search. The party issued a statement on Thursday, alleging that a team of EC officials was present at Mann’s residence for a search operation.

This claim comes just a day after the Delhi Police seized a private vehicle, which had a “Punjab government” sticker and the state’s registration number. The vehicle was reportedly found to be carrying liquor, cash, and election publicity materials linked to the AAP. The police have registered a case in connection with this incident.

In response to the AAP’s allegations, the Election Commission has firmly denied conducting any raids at the residence of Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann. A spokesperson from the EC clarified that the poll panel does not conduct raids or interfere in investigations.

The official explanation from the Election Commission stated, “Neither EC conducts any raid nor interferes in any investigation. The Flying Surveillance Team (FST) acted based on a complaint raised on the C-Vigil app, which allows the public to report violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). Based on this complaint, action was initiated.” The complaint reportedly concerned money distribution, and the complaint was processed within the required 100-minute timeframe.

As tensions escalate ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal launched a sharp attack on Congress. Kejriwal accused Congress of collaborating with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to undermine AAP’s chances in the elections.

In a video address, Kejriwal said, “Congress is not contesting elections in Delhi to win, but they are collaborating with the BJP so that AAP loses. Congress leaders never speak against BJP leaders but constantly target AAP. If the BJP comes to power, they will discontinue the welfare schemes introduced by AAP in Delhi.” Kejriwal urged Congress supporters to vote for AAP, emphasizing the need to keep the BJP from gaining control.

As the political landscape heats up in the capital, the controversy surrounding the Election Commission’s actions and the accusations from Kejriwal add further intensity to the upcoming Delhi elections.
