6 Soldiers Injured in Landmine Explosion in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri District

At least six army personnel were injured on Tuesday in a landmine explosion near Khamba Fort in the Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. The soldiers were on routine patrol duty when the incident occurred at approximately 10:45 am.

According to reports from PTI, the explosion was triggered when one of the soldiers inadvertently stepped on a landmine while on patrol. The blast resulted in injuries to the six soldiers, who were immediately transported to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, their condition is reported to be stable.

The landmines in the region are part of an anti-infiltration system near the Line of Control (LoC). These mines are placed in forward areas as a precaution against infiltration by enemy forces. However, officials have pointed out that heavy rainfall in the area can sometimes displace these landmines, leading to such accidents.

While the army personnel continue to patrol the area with heightened caution, this incident underscores the dangers faced by soldiers in areas prone to landmine risks. Efforts are being made to ensure the safety of troops and prevent similar incidents in the future.
