Delhi Students Behind Bomb Threat Emails to Schools, Investigation Reveals Exam Stress as Motivation

Delhi Police uncover shocking reason behind bomb threats sent to schools in Rohini: students trying to avoid exams.

In an unusual turn of events, the Delhi Police’s Special Cell has revealed that recent bomb threat emails sent to schools in Rohini were the handiwork of students looking to escape exams due to lack of preparation.

The Incident

Two schools in Delhi’s Rohini district received threatening emails that caused alarm among students, parents, and school authorities. Following an extensive investigation, police discovered that the emails originated from two students of the same school.

The students, whose identities remain confidential due to their age, confessed to sending the emails during a counseling session with authorities. According to the police, the students admitted they were unprepared for their exams and wanted them postponed.

Statement from Police

“After investigating the emails, it was found that both were sent by students of the same school,” said a Delhi Police spokesperson. “The students admitted their actions during counseling. Their parents have been warned, and the students were let off after receiving guidance.”

Schools Affected

One of the schools targeted was Venkateshwar Global School, which received a bomb threat email a day after a mysterious explosion at the Rohini Prashant Vihar PVR Multiplex on November 28. Another school in the district faced a similar situation, with a student citing the same reason — a desire to avoid exams.

Context of the Threats

The students admitted they got the idea from recent incidents where bomb threats were sent to institutions, causing disruption. Fortunately, the threats were quickly declared hoaxes after thorough searches of the schools.

Broader Concerns

The revelation comes amid a spate of bomb threats sent to schools, hospitals, airports, and airlines in Delhi over the past several months. In the last 11 days alone, more than 100 schools received similar emails, many sent via Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections, complicating the police’s efforts to identify the perpetrators.

A Growing Pattern

Since May this year, over 50 institutions have been targeted with bomb threats, sparking concerns about security and the misuse of technology by young individuals. While many cases remain unsolved, the latest incidents highlight a new motive—academic stress among students.

Authorities’ Response

The Delhi Police have urged parents to be vigilant and foster open communication with their children about stress management. Schools are also being encouraged to provide mental health support to students, especially during exam periods.

Key Takeaway

The incident underscores the need for awareness campaigns aimed at educating students about the consequences of such actions and providing them with tools to cope with academic pressure.
