RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das Hospitalised for Minor Health Issue, To Be Discharged Soon

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai earlier today due to a minor health issue. According to an official statement from the RBI, the Governor experienced acidity and was hospitalized for observation. The central bank assured the public that there is no cause for concern about his health.

In a brief update, an RBI spokesperson confirmed, “Shri Shaktikanta Das experienced acidity and was admitted to Apollo Hospital, Chennai for observation. He is now doing fine and will be discharged in the next 2-3 hours. There is no cause for concern.”

The news of his hospitalization quickly circulated, raising concerns among the public and financial sector stakeholders. However, the RBI has clarified that the situation is not serious and emphasized that Governor Das is expected to make a swift recovery.

Shaktikanta Das, who has been the Governor of the RBI since December 2018, is well-regarded for his leadership during challenging times, including managing India’s monetary policies amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and overseeing the country’s economic recovery efforts. His role continues to be pivotal in shaping India’s financial landscape.

The RBI’s reassurance regarding his health is likely to quell any worries among the public, with many anticipating his quick return to his official duties.
