Mumbai Police have intensified security measures around the wedding venue of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant at the Jio World Convention Centre in Bandra-Kurla Complex, following a security threat posted on social media. The threat, posted by a user on X (formerly Twitter), hinted at a potential bomb threat during the grand event.
According to police sources, the post by user @FFSFIR suggested, “A shameless thought crept into my mind that if a bomb went off at Ambani’s wedding, half the world would turn upside down. Trillions of dollars in one pin code.” While the Mumbai Police assessed the threat as a hoax, they did not take any chances and immediately heightened security in and around the wedding venue.
Senior police officials confirmed that no FIR has been registered yet, but efforts are underway to trace the identity of the person behind the post and ascertain their motives. “The message has been taken as a hoax, but our social media monitoring team is actively investigating the matter,” stated a police officer familiar with the investigation.
Apart from the social media threat, Mumbai Police also dealt with unauthorized entry incidents during the lavish wedding celebrations. Two individuals, identified as Venkatesh Narasaiya Alluri (26), a YouTuber, and Lukman Mohammad Shafi Sheikh (28), claiming to be a businessman, were apprehended for trespassing into the wedding venue without invitations.
Both individuals, hailing from Andhra Pradesh, were detained by security personnel after they were found entering through separate gates. They were subsequently booked under relevant sections of the law and later released after due legal procedures.
Anant Ambani, son of industrialist Mukesh Ambani, tied the knot with Radhika Merchant, daughter of businessman Viren Merchant, in a lavish ceremony that spanned over the weekend. The wedding reception, attended by dignitaries from around the world, concluded smoothly under the vigilant eye of Mumbai Police.
