Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Dedicates Turban to Lord Ram After Vow Fulfilled in Ayodhya

Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and BJP state president Samrat Choudhary fulfilled a significant vow on Wednesday by removing his turban and dedicating it to Lord Ram at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. This act marked the culmination of a pledge he had made concerning Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s political trajectory.

Mr. Choudhary ceremoniously took a dip in the sacred Saryu river before offering his turban at the feet of Lord Ram. He had sported the turban for the past 22 months, symbolizing his commitment to a specific political outcome involving Nitish Kumar.

“I took a dip in the Saryu river. I will devote this turban that I had for the last 22 months to Lord Ram,” Mr. Choudhary stated, expressing his fulfillment of the vow he had undertaken.

The BJP leader had adopted wearing the turban after Nitish Kumar’s departure from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to the Mahagathbandhan coalition in 2022. At that time, Mr. Choudhary had vowed to retain the turban until he achieved his goal related to Nitish Kumar’s political role.

“True that I had pledged to wear the turban until I made Nitish Kumar resign as the Chief Minister. But now that he has switched back to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) after resigning as the Chief Minister of the Mahagathbandhan, it is time for me to dedicate this turban to the feet of Lord Ram,” Mr. Choudhary explained.

Nitish Kumar’s return to the NDA earlier this year marked his fifth political realignment in the past decade, impacting Bihar’s political landscape significantly. His move led to the dissolution of the Mahagathbandhan government, subsequently paving the way for the formation of an NDA-led government in the state.
