IndiGo Flight Returns to Delhi Airport Terminal Due to 'High Ground Temperature'

An IndiGo flight destined for Bagdogra from Delhi was forced to return to the terminal after spending over two hours on the tarmac of Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI). The delay was reportedly caused by a technical issue attributed to high ground temperatures.

Initially, the pilots mentioned engine issues as the reason for the delay, as reported by CNBC-TV18. Subsequently, passengers were informed about problems with the fuel tank. Additionally, passengers raised concerns about the air conditioning malfunction inside the plane, leading to discomfort. One passenger’s health reportedly deteriorated due to oxygen shortage.

IndiGo issued a statement explaining the delay, citing adverse ground temperatures as the hindrance to smooth operations. The statement emphasized passenger safety as the top priority and assured steps were being taken for a prompt departure.

The flight, numbered 6E 2521, was scheduled to depart from IGI airport at 2:10 pm and land at Bagdogra airport at 4:10 pm. Despite the delay, the airline provided refreshments and water to passengers. However, some passengers expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of clear communication from officials.

In a related incident, passengers mentioned that their relatives were involved in a train accident near Darjeeling. A cargo train collision with a passenger train in West Bengal resulted in at least nine fatalities and numerous injuries. Railway authorities attributed the collision to the cargo train’s driver disregarding signals.

The incident highlights the challenges faced by airlines and railways in adverse weather conditions and technical glitches, emphasizing the need for effective communication and safety protocols during travel disruptions.
