PM Modi Meditates at Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari: Photos and Videos Released

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aiming for his third term, arrived in Kanyakumari on Thursday evening and is expected to leave for Delhi on June 1. The first visuals of PM Modi meditating at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial show the BJP leader in a trance in front of a statue of philosopher-saint Swami Vivekananda. PM Modi will meditate at the memorial’s Dhyan Mandapam, the same spot where Swami Vivekananda meditated in 1892 to envision the future of India, until Saturday evening.

Kanyakumari, located at the confluence of the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal, and Arabian Sea, is chosen for its symbolic message of national unity, according to BJP leaders. The party released pictures of PM Modi meditating and performing ‘Surya Arghya,’ a ritual to offer prayers to the Sun.

A short video clip titled “Sunrise, Surya Arghya, Spirituality” posted by the BJP on its social media handle showed PM Modi pouring water from a traditional vessel into the sea as an offering (Arghya) and praying with his prayer beads (Japa mala).

This spiritual retreat mirrors a similar journey PM Modi undertook in Uttarakhand ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha election results, where he was photographed meditating in a holy cave near Kedarnath.
