India Welcomes Largest-Ever Container Ship at Adani's Mundra Port

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) marked a historic moment as the largest container ship ever to dock at an Indian port, MSC Anna, arrived at Mundra Port. This significant event underscores Mundra Port’s capabilities in handling mega ships and enhancing India’s maritime trade capacities.

The MSC Anna boasts an impressive length of 399.98 meters, equivalent to approximately four football fields, and has a remarkable capacity of 19,200 TEUs (20-foot equivalent units). Its arrival at Mundra Port not only showcases the port’s ability to accommodate large vessels but also signifies its pivotal role in India’s maritime industry.

In a statement, Adani Ports highlighted Mundra Port’s unique capability to berth deep-draft vessels, with MSC Anna’s arrival draft of 16.3 meters being accommodated exclusively at Adani Ports, Mundra. This feat further solidifies Mundra Port’s reputation for efficiently managing large-scale cargo operations.

During its stay, the expected exchange is 12,500 TEUs, highlighting Mundra Port’s efficiency in handling substantial cargo volumes. This achievement follows previous records set by Adani Ports, Mundra, including berthing MV MSC Hamburg, one of the world’s longest container ships, in July 2023.

Adani Ports’ ongoing efforts to expand and upgrade its facilities position Mundra Port as a key player in the global shipping and logistics landscape. The port’s recent milestones, such as handling 16 MMT cargo in a single month, demonstrate its growing significance in India’s maritime trade sector.
