Father Charged in Pune Porsche Crash Case, Pub Faces Legal Action for Serving Alcohol to Minor

In a tragic turn of events, the father of a 17-year-old Pune boy involved in a fatal Porsche crash has been charged by the police. The incident, which resulted in the deaths of two individuals, has sparked outrage and raised concerns about road safety and underage drinking.

The teenager, who was reportedly driving the Porsche at a high speed and under the influence of alcohol, collided with a bike driven by Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, both 24 years old. The impact was fatal, with both victims losing their lives on the spot. Eyewitnesses described the horrifying scene, highlighting the speed and force of the collision.

The Pune police have filed a case against the father of the minor under Sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act. Section 75 pertains to willful neglect or exposing a child to harm, carrying a maximum punishment of three years in jail and a fine of ₹1 lakh. Section 77 deals with supplying intoxicating substances to a minor, punishable by up to seven years in jail.

The minor driver has been charged with rash and negligent driving, facing a maximum of two years in jail and a fine. Shockingly, he was granted bail within 15 hours of the incident, with the court ordering him to undergo alcohol addiction treatment and counselling, along with writing a 300-word essay.

The swift bail and lenient treatment of the accused have sparked fury among the public, questioning the enforcement of road safety laws and accountability for such heinous crimes. Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has called for the accused to be treated as an adult due to the severity of the offense.

Anurag Kulshrestha, a representative of an NGO focusing on road safety, criticized the lack of fear of the law in society. He highlighted the need for stricter enforcement and adherence to road safety regulations, emphasizing the consequences of negligence in such matters.
