Several schools in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, were targeted with bomb threat emails on Monday, leading to a swift response from the authorities. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter and have urged the public not to panic.
According to reports, at least three schools in Ahmedabad received threatening emails, prompting concerns about safety and security. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Control for Ahmedabad City reassured the public, stating that there is no need to panic or exaggerate the situation. The DCP mentioned that multiple schools had received similar threats via email, and the police are actively checking the credibility of these threats.
“This comes days after multiple schools in Delhi received bomb threats,” the DCP noted, highlighting a recent spate of similar incidents across different regions. In Delhi, 131 schools received threat emails on May 1, causing alarm among parents, students, and school authorities. However, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued a statement regarding the Delhi threats, categorizing them as “hoax.”
“The mail appears to be a hoax. Delhi Police and security agencies are taking necessary steps as per protocol,” the MHA stated, aiming to reassure the public and quell fears of imminent danger. Despite these reassurances, the incidents underscore the need for heightened vigilance and swift action in response to such threats.
Authorities in both Delhi and Ahmedabad are treating these incidents with seriousness, deploying necessary resources to ensure the safety of educational institutions and their communities. Parents and students are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or communications to the authorities promptly.
