Leopard Enters House in Delhi's Roop Nagar, Injures Five People

In a startling incident, a leopard entered a house in Delhi’s Roop Nagar area and injured five people on Monday morning. The Delhi Fire Service promptly responded to the situation, with Chief Atul Garg reporting that the leopard had been locked in a room and the injured individuals were taken to a hospital for treatment.

The incident unfolded around 6.20 am when the Delhi Fire Service received information about the leopard’s presence in Jagatpur village, located in Delhi’s Wazirabad area. Two fire tenders were dispatched to the scene to manage the situation and ensure the safety of the residents.

“With the help of the locals, the officials were able to lock the leopard in a room. The injured were taken to a hospital,” Chief Atul Garg stated, highlighting the collaborative efforts that led to containing the situation.

This incident adds to a series of recent encounters involving leopards across India. Last week, a forest guard in Junnar forest division was injured during a rescue operation, and prior to that, a bike rider was attacked by the same leopard near the Pune-Nashik Highway. Multiple leopard sightings have been reported in various areas, indicating a growing trend of human-leopard conflicts.

The increasing incidence of leopards venturing into human-inhabited areas can be attributed to factors such as habitat destruction and scarcity of food in forested regions. Leopards, known for their hunting prowess and adaptability, often seek food sources in human settlements, leading to potential conflicts.
