The Indian Air Force (IAF) has taken to the skies over Mumbai in a dazzling display of aerobatics, kickstarting the much-anticipated “Mumbai Air Show.” The event, part of an outreach program by the IAF to connect with the local community, is set to continue until January 14, with captivating displays showcasing the skills and professionalism of the Indian Air Force.

Coordinated with the Maharashtra Government, the air show features a one-hour-long aerial display over the iconic Marine Drive, providing a breathtaking view of the Arabian Sea coast. The Suryakiran Aerobatic Display Team (SKAT) and the ‘Sarang’ Helicopter display team are among the highlights of the event, offering aerobatic prowess that has left spectators in awe.

The diverse range of aerial activities includes a flypast and low-level aerobatic display by the Su-30 MKI, as well as freefall and parachute displays by the ‘Akashganga’ team and C-130 aircraft. The event aims to create awareness and strengthen the bond between the IAF and the local community.

Ahead of the three-day spectacle, preparatory drills in south Mumbai showcased jaw-dropping aerobatic manoeuvres by the jets. The Suryakiran aerobatic team, marking their return to Mumbai after 20 years, expressed their excitement on social media.

Business magnate Anand Mahindra praised the IAF’s precision and excellence, stating, “The IAF air show rehearsal in Mumbai today. Precision & Excellence. The approach we should use in every task we undertake. To say that the IAF is inspiring would be an understatement…”
