"PM Modi Unveils Plans to Rename Indian Navy Ranks, Honors Chhatrapati Shivaji at Navy Day Event"

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed the government’s dedication to bolstering female representation in the armed forces while announcing a significant renaming initiative for Indian Navy ranks, emphasizing a cultural shift in nomenclature. Speaking at a Navy Day ceremony in Malvan, Maharashtra, PM Modi paid tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj for his strategic vision in naval warfare, heralding his role in shaping the country’s maritime prowess.

The PM highlighted the significance of Chhatrapati Shivaji’s foresight in recognizing the strategic importance of naval power during the 17th century, noting the king’s instrumental role in establishing India’s first modern Navy. As a nod to this legacy, naval officers’ insignias will now feature elements inspired by Chhatrapati Shivaji’s iconography.

Underlining India’s departure from a historical mentality and its pursuit of ambitious objectives, PM Modi underscored the nation’s progress, drawing inspiration from Shivaji’s transformative leadership. He emphasized India’s growing global significance, positioning the country as a universal friend, or ‘Vishwa Mitra,’ on the global stage.

The event witnessed PM Modi’s unveiling of a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Rajkot Fort before he observed a captivating operational demonstration by the Indian Navy at Tarkarli beach, showcasing the military’s capabilities with a display of warships, submarines, aircraft, and Special Forces.

The operational prowess of the Indian Navy took center stage as warships like INS Vikramaditya, INS Kolkata, INS Visakhapatnam, and others, alongside submarines, helicopters, surveillance aircraft, and combat aircraft, participated in an impressive display of strength and efficiency.

PM Modi’s address coincided with Navy Day, where he lauded the unwavering commitment and dedication of naval personnel in safeguarding India’s maritime interests. The event not only celebrated the Navy’s accomplishments but also marked a significant milestone in India’s resolve to honor its maritime legacy while forging ahead with its strategic objectives.
