Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his recent Mann Ki Baat broadcast, expressed concern over the growing trend of conducting weddings abroad by “big families,” urging people to celebrate such occasions within India. Emphasizing the significance of supporting local products, PM Modi urged individuals to prioritize Indian-made goods during wedding shopping.

Addressing the nation, PM Modi highlighted the wedding season’s arrival, estimating a business turnover of around ₹5 lakh crore. Encouraging citizens to favor Indian products while preparing for weddings, he underscored the need to retain the country’s wealth by hosting celebrations within the nation’s borders.

Expressing his concern about families choosing overseas venues for weddings, PM Modi emphasized the importance of holding such festivities in India. He highlighted the social impact, mentioning how celebrations within the country enable diverse sections of society to partake, creating opportunities for service and engagement among citizens.

Furthering the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative, PM Modi stressed the mission’s expansion into wedding ceremonies, advocating for support from larger families. He envisioned these events contributing to the nation’s development, creating systems and opportunities for the betterment of society.

PM Modi also lauded the success of ‘Vocal for Local,’ highlighting the recent surge in domestic business during the festive season, amounting to over ₹4 lakh crore. He praised the population’s inclination towards purchasing Indian-made products, emphasizing the shift towards checking product origins, both in physical stores and online.

Asserting that the campaign strengthens India’s economy and employment prospects, PM Modi highlighted its role in fostering balanced development across urban and rural sectors. He underscored its significance in adding value to local products and safeguarding the economy during global economic fluctuations.
