Ajit Pawar Appointed Guardian Minister of Pune, Replacing BJP's Chandrakant Patil

In a noteworthy decision, the Maharashtra government, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has appointed Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar as the Guardian Minister for Pune district. This key role involves overseeing the implementation of government policies and schemes in the district and managing funds for development projects.

Ajit Pawar’s appointment comes after a prolonged power struggle between the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Chandrakant Patil, who previously held the position. Chandrakant Patil will now assume the responsibilities of overseeing Solapur and Amaravati districts.

The Chief Minister’s office also announced the appointment of 11 other ministers for various districts across Maharashtra. Sudhir Mungantiwar has been designated as the Guardian Minister for Wardha.

Guardian Ministers play a crucial role in ensuring that government policies and initiatives are effectively executed for the benefit of the public in their respective districts. They also manage District Planning and Development Council (DPDC) funds allocated for developmental projects within their areas.

Notably, in the list issued by the Chief Minister’s office, nine of the Guardian Minister positions have been assigned to members of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), reflecting the party’s significant presence and influence in the state government.

This appointment marks a significant change in the administrative landscape of Pune district and underscores the ongoing dynamics between political parties in Maharashtra. As Ajit Pawar takes on this vital role, the residents of Pune district will be watching closely to see how he addresses their concerns and advances the region’s development.
