Uzbek Woman Held at Indo-Nepal Border for Illegal Entry into India, Absconder Also Apprehended

In a vigilant move ahead of Independence Day, security agencies at the Indo-Nepal border in Maharajganj successfully thwarted attempts by an Uzbek woman and an absconder to enter Indian territory. The individuals were intercepted at the Sonauli checkpoint, leading to their arrests in separate incidents.

Dilbara Rakhimova (31), an Uzbekistani woman, was apprehended by authorities upon her entry into Indian territory. A collaborative team comprised of members from the Shashtra Seema Bal, immigration officials, and local police from Maharajganj raised suspicion about her at the Sonauli checkpoint. During the investigation, officials discovered a fraudulently prepared Indian identity card in her possession, bearing the name “Nilofer Khan” and an address in Malviya Nagar, South Delhi.

Based on a complaint filed by immigration officials, the Sonauli police station officials arrested Rakhimova. An FIR has been lodged under section 14 of the Foreigners Act for her illegal entry into India. Additionally, charges under section 467 of the Indian Penal Code have been filed for document forgery. J. Ravinder Goud, the Inspector General of police for the Gorakhpur range, noted that the police have obtained custody remand for further investigations to ascertain the motives behind her attempted entry. Her custody has been shared with security agencies including the U.P. Anti-Terror Squad and central agencies like the Intelligence Bureau.

Hamid Ali (21), a resident of Hyderabad, Telangana, was also arrested on the same day. Hyderabad police had issued a lookout notice against Ali in connection with a criminal assault case registered in the city. Ali, who had left the country following the accusations, was attempting to enter Indian territory while traveling from Dubai to Kathmandu.

Goud revealed that Ali’s attempt to return to his residence via Nepal was aimed at evading the security agencies. However, vigilant immigration officials apprehended him at the border. Subsequently, he was handed over to a Hyderabad police team that arrived after being informed of his arrest. After receiving transit remand from a local court, the Hyderabad police took Ali into their custody.

These incidents highlight the proactive measures taken by security agencies to ensure the safety and security of the nation’s borders. The arrests underscore the ongoing efforts to prevent illegal entry and criminal activities through vigilant checks and collaborations among various law enforcement entities.
