
In a significant move to modernize and enhance railway infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the Amrit Bharat Station scheme on Sunday. The ambitious initiative targets the redevelopment of 508 railway stations nationwide, including 13 stations in Karnataka. Launched in February, the scheme aims to transform the railway experience for travelers and marks a historic milestone in the development of Indian railways.
The 13 Karnataka Stations to Undergo Remarkable Transformation
Among the 508 railway stations earmarked for redevelopment, 13 stations in Karnataka are set to witness a remarkable transformation. The stations listed for redevelopment include Ballari, Ghataprabha, Gokak Road, Bidar, Mangalore Jn, Harihar, Alnavar, Gadag, Arsikere, Kalaburagi Jn (Gulbarga), Shahabad, Wadi, and Koppal. These stations will undergo significant upgrades to provide world-class amenities and better facilities to passengers.
A Pan-India Redevelopment Initiative
The Amrit Bharat Station scheme targets railway stations across 27 states and union territories, with Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan leading the pack with 55 stations each, followed by 49 in Bihar, 44 in Maharashtra, 37 in West Bengal, and 34 in Madhya Pradesh. The ambitious initiative also includes 32 stations in Assam, 25 in Odisha, 22 in Punjab, and 21 each in Gujarat and Telangana, among others. In total, 1,309 stations across the country are slated for redevelopment under this transformative scheme.
