India Aims to Secure Top 3 Spot in Global Economy, PM Modi Guarantees

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while inaugurating the revamped International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) complex, asserted that India is set to become one of the world’s top three economies during his third term in office. The newly renamed complex, “Bharat Mandapam,” is touted as India’s largest Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) destination, marking a significant milestone in the country’s development journey.

The prime minister confidently declared, “On the basis of our track record, in the third term of our government, India will become the world’s third-largest economy. Yeh Modi ki guarantee hai (This is Modi’s guarantee).” The statement reflects the government’s unwavering commitment to achieving robust economic growth and further cementing India’s position on the global stage.

Citing the Niti Aayog report, PM Modi highlighted that 13.5 crore people have been lifted out of poverty over the last five years. International agencies have also recognized India’s significant strides towards eliminating extreme poverty, indicating that the nation is moving in the right direction.

While acknowledging that some projects faced criticism and obstacles, the prime minister stressed the importance of thinking big and pursuing ambitious targets for national development. “India is moving ahead with the principle of ‘Think Big, Dream Big, Act Big’,” he stated, urging the country to embrace a forward-looking approach.

The newly inaugurated Bharat Mandapam stands as a testament to India’s progress in hosting world-class events. The complex ranks among the top exhibition and convention venues globally, making it a fitting choice to host the upcoming G20 summit in September under India’s presidency. The event is expected to see participation from leaders of 20 nations, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and China, among others.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of around 3,000 guests, including Cabinet ministers, industry leaders, prominent figures from the film industry, and others. Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and other ministers graced the occasion as Prime Minister Modi unveiled the new complex’s name through a drone.

The prime minister also took a playful jibe at detractors, reminding them of past instances where projects initially faced opposition but later received widespread acclaim. He expressed optimism that critics would eventually appreciate the value and significance of the newly inaugurated complex.

As India forges ahead with its development journey, the commitment of the government to foster economic growth and address critical social challenges remains steadfast. Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a prosperous and progressive India holds the promise of elevating the country to new heights on the global economic stage.
