Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Urges Massive Support for AAP; Kejriwal Seeks "Fatwa" from Voters

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, in a joint roadshow with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, rallied voters to back the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on May 25. Kejriwal, addressing the crowd during the roadshow in Moti Nagar and Uttam Nagar areas, emphasized that a vote for AAP would prevent his return to jail.

Kejriwal’s statement came in response to BJP’s claims that he would face imprisonment again in 20 days. He urged voters to choose the broom (AAP’s symbol), asserting, “If you choose jhadu, I won’t have to go back to jail.” This sentiment was echoed by Bhagwant Mann, who called for a significant mandate to ensure Kejriwal’s freedom and AAP’s victory.

The roadshow highlighted the ongoing legal battle faced by Kejriwal, who was recently granted interim bail by the Supreme Court until June 1 to campaign for the elections. Kejriwal criticized BJP, alleging that his arrest was a consequence of working for the people of Delhi and claimed that his insulin injections were halted during his previous stint in jail.

The bail conditions restrict Kejriwal from visiting his office or signing official files without Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena’s sanction. Despite these challenges, Kejriwal remained optimistic about AAP’s prospects and emphasized the potential consequences of his re-arrest on Delhi’s governance, including disruptions in essential services like free electricity, education, and healthcare.
