Bollywood actor Amrita Arora Ladak appeared as a witness in court on Saturday regarding the 2012 hotel brawl case involving Saif Ali Khan. The incident, which took place at a five-star hotel in Mumbai, involved a dispute between Saif, his friends, and NRI businessman Iqbal Sharma.
Amrita Arora Ladak’s Statement in Court
According to Amrita, who was part of the dinner gathering with Saif and others, the group was dining in a separate enclosure when the alleged altercation occurred. She testified that an unidentified man entered their enclosure and started shouting and abusing them.
“We saw someone barging into our enclosure and, in a very loud, aggressive voice, told us to shut up and keep quiet. We all got shocked at what was happening,” she stated, adding that Saif immediately stood up and apologised.
The man initially left, and the group continued their dinner. However, when Saif went to the washroom, they suddenly heard loud voices, including his. Moments later, according to Amrita, the same man barged into their space again and physically attacked Saif.
“Everyone intervened to separate the two. That’s when the man started abusing us and threatening us with dire consequences,” she told the court.
The Allegations Against Saif Ali Khan
The incident occurred on February 22, 2012, when Saif Ali Khan was dining with Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Malaika Arora Khan, Amrita Arora Ladak, and other friends.
NRI businessman Iqbal Sharma claimed that Saif and his friends were being too loud. When he objected to the noise, he alleged that Saif threatened him and then punched him in the nose, fracturing it. Sharma also accused Saif and his group of assaulting his father-in-law, Raman Patel.
However, Saif refuted these allegations, stating that Sharma had made provocative and abusive remarks towards the women in his group, which led to the altercation.
Legal Proceedings and Charges
Saif Ali Khan, along with his friends Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi, was charge-sheeted under Section 325 (assault) of the Indian Penal Code. The case has been ongoing for over a decade, with new testimonies being recorded.
The next hearing in the case is expected soon, as the court continues to examine witness statements and evidence.
