As anticipation builds for the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Air India Express announced the launch of its inaugural flight from Delhi to Ayodhya, slated for December 30. This service precedes the temple’s momentous event, promising swift connectivity between the two cities.
The airline disclosed that the first flight, IX 2789, will depart from Delhi at 11:00 hours and arrive in Ayodhya at 12:20 hours on December 30. The return journey, flight IX 1769, will depart from Ayodhya at 12:50 hours, reaching Delhi at 14:10 hours the same day. These flights are expected to cater to the surge of tourists heading to the Ram Mandir after its consecration ceremony.
The Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport in Ayodhya, equipped with an extended runway suitable for A-321/B-737 type aircraft operations, will host these flights. Air India Express’s Managing Director, Aloke Singh, expressed excitement about the airline’s commitment to bolstering connectivity, especially from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
Furthermore, IndiGo also announced its plans to operate the inaugural flight from Delhi to Ayodhya on December 30, with commercial services commencing from January 6. This move aims to facilitate seamless travel for individuals participating in the momentous event at the Ram Mandir.
The construction of the Ram Mandir, initiated during the Covid lockdown in 2020 with the laying of the foundation stone by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has reached a culmination point. The temple’s overall construction, spanning 3.5 years since the Bhoomi Pujan on August 5, 2020, included the acquisition of 60 million-year-old Shaligram rocks from Nepal in January 2023 to carve the statue of Lord Ram for the sanctum sanctorum.
The impending consecration ceremony on January 22 has drawn immense attention, evidenced by over 1200 invitations extended to dignitaries, including PM Modi, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, and other notable personalities.
The introduction of these air routes signifies a pivotal step in enhancing accessibility to Ayodhya, aligning with the significant religious and cultural event awaiting the nation in the new year.
